People

What experiences in life helped you grow the most?

What’s better than meeting with different people!

Living in a different country, meeting with people of different culutres, people with different tongues, is such wonderful, though hard, experience that I believed I’ve been blessed to live.  This experience has been teaching me valuable lessons everyday.

I’m still the same me, however in a much wiser, much knowedgable, much careful version. And there’s one more important thing; when you’re living in a froiegn country, you’re granted a silver opportunity for choosing who you want to be. Either to cut your roots, discard them, borrow different seeds, and plant a complete different crop. Or, keep your old roots, plant then in the new soil, feed and water them every now and then. Believe me, you’ll be suprised how your old roots make a unique plant of you.

It’s Fate

Do you believe in fate/destiny?

If  I did not choose my birthland,  my birthday, birth name? How can  I not believe in Fate?

I am a Muslim, and to believe in Fate with its goods and bads, is part and parcel of my religion. But I also believe that we all have granted a free will. This issue can be understood simply if we only intend to.

So, for example, one day you’ve decided to take a different road while walking home after work. As you’re walking, you glanced a child on his bike chasing after his friend and oblivious of how he started to swerve off the pavement. The road was quiet, until, suddenly, the child slipped from his tiny bike seat and fell on the ground. He burst out crying and you ran to help him. But then, a car on full speed was turning into the same road,  and just in a split second, you grabbed the child off the road before being smashed by the car.

It was fate that had sent you to that road, but it was your choice to save the child.

I do

Do you enjoy your job?

People are different. Some won’t rest until they phyiscally reach the moon with all the hardships, risks and costs of the journey. However, there are others who would enjoy doing other things for their goal is a different moon.

I’ve always enjoyed hearing from others about their jobs, their workload and how that’s affecting their life. I have tried a few things, and you know what?  I believe God puts us where we need to be.

I am a mother and that’s the job when I won’t be replaced, sacked, or forgotten.

“Old fashioned life”

Describe a phase in life that was difficult to say goodbye to.

Don’t you miss your old fashioned phone?

Don’t you miss the days you use your brain, hands, and feelings to write a letter, a note, or a postcard?

Don’t you long for using a pen and paper?

Don’t you miss your old telephone and address book?

Don’t you miss a family outing without a phone, without a camera?

Don”t you miss privacy and respect?

The list of things that have become nowadays old fashioned is so long. I don’t know about you, but I do miss this phase of my life and that’s the phase I found too hard to say goodbye to.

With all the best wishes,

A dream for a day?

If you could be someone else for a day, who would you be, and why?

Why not live a dream for a day? Whatever your dream is, don’t you think that it will still be YOU living it. No one else. So, if you could be someone else for a day that doesn’t mean to not be yourself.  Hopefully,  that makes sense!

As for myself, I won’t choose any special person, any celebrity, any scholar… I mainly think of living a different experience. In this context, I would love to be a horse owner, rider, or equestrian!

I love these noble creatures though I have rarely encountered any but I read briefly about them. Do you know that they are mentioned in the holy scriptures?

It”ll be fun not only to spend a day in a ranch but also to see myself as rider and a friend to one of these creatures who as some say are “poetry in motion.”

With all the best wishes,

The Tortoise and the Hare

Yesterday I asked my daughter:

If there is a second part to the tortoise and the hare story in which they will decide to go for another competition, who do you think will win?

While she was thinking, i said in my head the Hare. Surely he would have learned the lesson. He would never think to have a nap under the same tree. No way.

The tortoise, my daughter said and i looked at her surprised.

How? I asked believing the hare would never repeat the same mistake.

The Hare will copy the tortoise and crawl all the way next to her.

Why? I asked still surprised

Because she had won the first race and he thought if he followed her pace, he would too

Any why do you think it did not work with him?

Because his legs hurt. He got different legs to those of the tortoise. So he became very very tired and had some rest under the tree and fell asleep again.

Oh poor hare! Surely he was very disappointed, i said

No, he was not, my daughter said

Why? I asked.

Because he wasn’t himself in the race this time, my daughter said

Don’t understand, i said

He was pretending to be the tortoise but this can’t be. He should be himself, the hare, to win, my daughter said.

Good point! I smiled

Children will always give us wonderful lessons.

Wishing you all the best,

She Came from Heaven

I have just read a beautiful myth about mothers, but I will tell it in my own words;

Mothers came down from heaven just for you, her children.

Your father met her, and they went home.

From the first night, the house brightened up.

From the first day, she brought love, delight, and warmth.

Such bliss, such a heavenly surprise!

May  The Lord grant all mothers good health and peaceful life.

And, May The Lord forgive our passed away mothers’ sins and grant them the joy of eternal paradise.

Wishing you all the best,

Nahla
