May and May

We’ve had a wonderful, sunny, warm weather over the last three or four weeks?  Can you believe it in the UK? It really did happen! Miraculous isn’t it? That was so encouraging to get out and enjoy long walks under the blue, shining sky.

May always brings special, unique surprises, which relate so much to the auxiliary verb ‘may.’ Both are full of possibilities, wishes, and sometimes permissions. Was the month named after the verb? I don’t know—Do you?

Do you like May? It’s okay if you may not.

I love May because it’s usually warm, colourful, and bright, but it may suprise you with heavy showers— just as the forecast expects next week.

Trees and flowers smile at May. They bloom and blossom, sing and dance, and pray: May our winter be far away!

Insects, too welcome the warmth of May. They explore freely around, but they never use ‘may‘ to sneak or rush into one’s house.

Time flies not at a airplane’s speed but like that of space rocket. And here’s May, almost gone. And you, just like me, still hoping … thinking …  praying that good news may come in abundance.

May the rest of May be kind and reassuring to all of us.

Amen

With hope and peace,

Thanks so much

You have three magic genie wishes, what are you asking for?

But I neither need your magic nor wishes.

I will lock the small door of the rusty lantern and hand it to one of the new robots. I’ll give my orders to take that lantern with its occupant on one of the spaceships and deliver it straight to hell.

We’ve had enough of the genies in the world turning it upside down.  Your wishes will be granted. The servant kept its word. Honest is that genie. Truly honest. That’s what old stories tell. Oh, poor children, poor us, to believe and imagine life will be rosy if only we have that lantern once!

But haven’t we ever thought why that genie was imprisoned in the lantern in the first place? No, we just need our wishes to come true.

Aren’t we capable of making our wishes come true? Yes, but why not take the shortcut.

What if one wishes for revenge, for destruction, for their own powerful survival? Of course, that’s also included in the genie’s package. Haven’t we let the genie out? That was his job, his one main job. Why else was he caught and sentenced to eternal prison in the lantern?

What about others who are wishing for peace, love, friendship, and happy life? Oh, sure the genei wouldn’t mind help with that somehow, but don’t blame him when others’ wishes blast those noble dreams into ashes.

Thank you very much, but I’ve grown out of the genie’s lies.

With all the best wishes,

Nahla

Can it be do less?

What do you wish you could do more every day?

You know it’s useless. You know it’s too much. You know most of it is fake. Still, you spend more than enough time on social media. Thank God, it’s mainly Instgram that I browse every now and then. Yet, when I do, time slips away like water and of course you can’t get it back. I am still in control, but I really wish to spend less and less time on it.

As for the thing I wish to do more everyday; it is walking. I do some walking everyday but, with other commitments, I can’t do enough.

Walking is not merely an excerise but it also a wonderful opportunity to contemplate, breathe, and enjoy your surroundings. And, good company makes long-distance walks even more enjoyable and entertaining.

Wishing you all the best,

Nahla

Eyes to the sky

The Sky is mysterious, so deep, so beautiful.

Look up and see this marvellous creation.

Look up, and watch the clouds smile and dance or even weep.

Look up and watch the sun rises and sets.

Look up, and your eyes muscles will relax, your mood will change.

Look up and pray.

And, be thankful for living such a day!

These are my thoughts for today.

Wishing you all the best,

Nahla
