Please Bear With Me

Starting today, please don’t be surprised if I like and dislike your post at the same time. Or if you catch me me follow a conversation I have no idea how and when I get into. Or if I subscribe and then unsubscribe to your blog.

Oh my … I am pretty sure things like that have happened before, but honestly that’s mainly because of a lagging internet connection or a frozen screen. If this happens today or tomorrow, or even already did, my sincere apologies!

So starting now, hopefully for just a few days, I might be a bit clumsy because I am using a new device. Every time I switch to a new one, funny things happen. Sometimes I wish I had kept the old one as there was no thing wrong with it. But my sons want to get me a special gift for my special day, and here I am using it. It’s actually great, but my brain needs time to befriend it.

You know the most annoying thing right now? It is Jetpack app. I can’t find the Reader icon as I used to on the other device. So I’ve switched to using WordPress in the browser, and I’m trying to navigate my way through it.

Hopefully things will get better soon.

With hope and peace,

Nahla

Would you like to play?

Two weeks ago, or three, during the weekend, we found an unopened board game, a forgotten gift my daughter had received two years ago. So, we decided to play and have some fun without technology.

After dinner, we gathered around the dining table, and started reading the instructions. The rules were a bit complicated with unnecessary details. Rather than wasting time squinting at the tiny print in the catalogue, that needs a magnifier, we decided to make our own rules, instead.

Basically, it’s a word game where players have to describe a certain word aloud—without using any of its most familiar describitive terms.

So, if school, for example, is the word on your card, it will come with a list of some restircted terms—like primary, secondary, education, and teachers. Then, you give a brief description of the word. Other players can ask questions and you answer, avoiding any from the restricted list. The quickest to correctly guess the word, wins the round and gets the card. In the end, the player with the most cards is the winer.

Now, pretend I’m picking a card, reading the word, and having a quick glance at its not-allowed-to use list .

Would you like to play?

Here’s my description;

It’s a divine concept that humans believe and seek, yet most of the time, struggle to apply and fulfill.

It’s truth, finally shown up, finally echoing everywhere.

It’s the whisper that tells what’s right for you and me.

It’s freedom with moral sense, shared duties.

It’s an eye for an eye— yet with a hint of an open door to forgiveness.

And, it’s a blindfolded woman wielding a set of scales.

Get it?

With hope and peace,

Nahla

P.s, Taboo is the name of the game.

Archive or Kindle

I like to feel the books in my hands. I like how they look on the shelves. I like to use a bookmark, whether it’s one I made myself or a dried flower between the pages. I like the faded colours of the pages over the years. And, I like my scribbles and highlighted sections throughout the chapters. I used to visit the local library frequently and made sure I have got a library card in each and every new city I moved to. I also used to buy books, always on Amazon and sometimes from charity shops.

However, things changed when I discovered the Archive Digital Library with its online fourteen day lending system. Some books have fewer days to borrow, but I believed it was a great option. I don’t really remember when I first joined the Archive Library, but that helped me reading more. It was about two years ago when I heard that The Archive Library had legal issues regarding publishing copyrights and other complicated matters I couldn’t understand. The library don’t allow any changes to be made to any books, and no one can download any copies either. That was when I started to turn back to Amazon, especially Kindle.

With kindle books, things became much easier. I can read for longer hours at night (of course that depends on the book) without my husband nagging me to turn the lights off. I can also highlight sections, add notes, and copy my favourite parts as much as I want.

Whatever you prefer to use for reading, don’t stop.

Have you ever received a book as a gift? Wouldn’t one make a great gift?

With all the best wishes,

Nahla

What can be better?

What is the greatest gift someone could give you?

First I thought of Time because what could be a better gift than sparing a few moments to show kindness and care for others. Time to talk, to listen, to write, to read, to play, to joke, to buy a gift, send a gift, ….

But then, I thought that your time gift would be worthless, valueless if it is not genuine, if it has no feelings, no specialness. It becomes a show off, a dull routine.

In other words, the greatest gift doesn’t ‘t have to be on your wish list for your birthday, it might be just smile from a child, a prayer from your beloved ones, or a comment on your blog. Just an unexpected, simple, pure gesture. People say, “Whatever comes from the heart, goes to the heart. »

What gift can be better than that?

With all the best wishes,

Nahla
